Hello and Happy New Year to all DHARA Members:

It’s time once again for the DHARA Annual Membership Meeting.  It will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 7 p.m.  While we had hoped to have an in-person meeting, COVID is once again forcing us to have the meeting virtually.  You can find a link to the Zoom meeting on our agenda page.  The agenda includes meeting the candidates for the Board, hearing the results of the Board election, reviewing our finances and 2022 budget, considering revisions to our Bylaws, and sharing updates on the Board’s and DHARA’s activities.  See the detailed meeting agenda for the full list of topics.

While this season opened with uncertainty due to ongoing COVID restrictions, the pool quickly evolved along with state and county guidelines. Happily, we ended up with something resembling a normal summer.  There were over 20,500 member visits to the pool, and the swim and dive teams were able to practice and compete.  We also reinstituted some of our favorite social activities, like movie night, kids and teen nights, and the Labor Day picnic.  Some new traditions were established as well, including food and ice cream trucks and the Oktoberfest.  Fingers crossed, we look forward to a full summer calendar this year.

Your Board also led a number of additional initiatives.  In connection with our broader efforts to remove Native American imagery from our profile, we organized a swim and dive team vote for a new mascot – the Thunder Ducks!  The Board also continued DHARA’s beautification efforts, and the exterior of the clubhouse received a fresh coat of paint.  Our Long Term Planning Committee managed a survey that provided important input from a majority of members on how we use the pool and what we hope to see from the pool in the future.  One thing the survey confirmed is frustration with the vending machines, and I am very pleased to report that we are looking into setting up a snack bar to replace the machines.  Stay tuned for more on this front.

I would like to thank everyone for their continued patience and cooperation.  I also want to thank my fellow Board members and DHARA staff for their tireless efforts to ensure that DHARA remained a fun and healthy place for all members.

Finally, please remember to cast your vote regarding the election of new Board members and the proposed changes to the Bylaws.  You can see CANDIDATE BIOS and VOTE ELECTRONICALLY on the website, during the annual meeting, or, if necessary, download/print the ballot and mail it back.

Best wishes,

Matt Bachrack, DHARA President
