Meet the Dominion Hills Swim Instructors
John Aldonas
John grew up locally and swam in the NVSL and for several Club teams, through college where he held the university 200 backstroke record. He began coaching NVSL swimmers in the mid 1990s and became a USA Swimming club coach in 2000. Over the past 20+ years John has had the opportunity to work with kids and adults at every ability level including learn to swim classes, club swim, collegiate, national, international and Olympic level athletes. He really enjoys teaching others how to improve their swimming skills and seeing them progress in competition.
Lindsay Cronin
Abby Deering
Abby began teaching private lessons in 2019, she began coaching for Dominion Hills the same year. She is currently an assistant coach for the team. Abby has also coached for York Swim Club, working in their swim school, a program for new swimmers aged 5-8. She has experience working with kids from the ages of 3 to 16 of varying swimming abilities. Abby began swimming for Dominion Hills at 8 years old, swam for York Swim Club for 5 years, and was on the varsity swim team at Washington-Liberty High School, where she was team captain. Abby will be a sophomore at Syracuse University in the fall, where she studies marketing and accounting. She is looking forward to seeing everyone at the pool this summer!
Emma Deering
I started coaching and teaching private lessons in 2019. At DH, I have coached the winter swim program and the summer swim team. Additionally, I coached for the York Swim Club swim school, which is a program for new swimmers aged 5-8 years old. I started swimming at Dominion Hills at age 8, where I hold multiple team records. I was a 4-year varsity swimmer on my high school team, Washington-Liberty, and I was on the district, regional, and state teams. Additionally, I swam for York Swim Club for 6 years. Currently, I am a collegiate swimmer for St. Lawrence University where I also study Data Science and Public Health. I have experience giving lessons to kids aged 4 to 13 with all swimming abilities. I can’t wait to see everyone at the pool this summer!
Alaina Desautels
Hi! My name is Alaina, and I’m a rising junior at Yorktown. I’m a lifeguard and have been a member of the Thunderducks swim team since I was 7. I also swim year round with York Swim Club, and I’ve done York’s Swim School for two years, coaching kids from ages 5-8. I learned to swim here at DH so I’m so excited to pay it forward to this community!
Lauren Fatouros
Hi! My name is Lauren Fatouros, and I have been a member of the Dominion Hills Swim Team for the past 13 years. At DH I have coached in the mini duckling program, swim team, and our winter swim program. I hold multiple individual and relay DH team records and swim competitively for Arlington Aquatic Club in their top training group during the year. I was a four-time member of the Yorktown High School state swim team, serving as captain my senior year. Recently, I was awarded female swimmer of the year by The Better Sports Club of Arlington and by the Pigskin Club of Washington. I have been giving lessons at DH the past 3 years, working with kids from 4 to 13 years old. I love working with swimmers at any stage of their swimming development, and can’t for another great summer at Dominion Hills!
Drew LeNard
Nate LeNard
I have been lifegaurding at DH for 3 years and have been teaching lessons for the same amount of time. I was captain of the Yorktown high school swim team this previous year and have been swimming on the dominion hills for the past 13 years. I have been coaching the minis ducklings program on the team for the past two years as well as coaching the DH winter swim program this past year. I have experience coaching all levels of swimmers and look forward to anyone who hopes to work on their swimming.
Claire McArdle
Hi! My name is Claire and I am a rising sophomore at Yorktown. I work as a lifeguard at DH and i’ve been a part of the Thunderducks since I was five. This year I swam for Yorktown Swim team and AAC swim club. I love being a part of swimteam and making sure that the younger kids are having a good time. I’m really excited to be a part of DH and pass on the fun of swimming!
Cooper McComis
Hello, my name is Cooper McComis and I am excited to be giving swim lessons this year. I am a rising junior at Washington and Liberty High school and I am starting my second year as a lifeguard at DH. I have been a member of the Dominion Hills swim team for 10 years. I coached DH winter swim this past year and I enjoyed working with the kids and helping them improve their swimming ability. I swim year round at York swim club and am a member of the WL varsity swim team. I look forward to helping your children feel more comfortable in the water and to become stronger swimmers.
Hannah McComis
Hi, my name is Hannah McComis! I am a rising sophmore at Christopher Newport University. I swam at Dominion Hills for nine years. I also swam for four years with York Swim Club. I have been a lifeguard at Dominion Hills for five years and was a coach for their Winter Swim program. I am looking forward to helping young swimmers improve their skills and comfort in the water!
Alex Munoz
Hi, my name is Alex Munoz and I am a rising sophomore at Santa Clara University. I swam for ten years on the DH swim team and seven years for Clark Swim Club. I am currently an Assistant Coach for the DH Swim team, with this being my third year coaching as well as my fourth year lifeguarding. I have taught both group and private lessons to swimmers between the ages 4-16 with differing skill levels. I’m excited to return to DH for the summer and to help coach the next generation of young swimmers.

Hi my name is Sarah Newman. I am a member of the DH swim team and apart of Arlington Aquatic Club where I have been swimming competitively for 10 years. Also, I will be swimming Division 1 next year at Lafayette College. This will be my third year coaching private and group lessons and I am lifeguard certified. Hi, my name is Lily Woodward and I’m a rising senior at Yorktown High School. I have been doing club swim for over 8 years, and I started swimming for Dominion Hills when I was 5 years old. I was a coach for the DH winter swim program this past year and am currently one of the Mini Ducklings coaches as well as a DH lifeguard. I have loved being a part of the DH swim community for the past 12 years and I look forward to share my love for swimming with younger swimmers!
